Background
I was raised and educated in the United States. I worked there as a software engineering consultant for clients including Wells Fargo, Pfizer, NetJets, Bureau Veritas, and Booz Allen Hamilton.
I moved to Switzerland in 2012. I'm now a Swiss citizen 🇨🇭. I've worked with the Swiss Federal Government (BFS/BIT), the Swiss National Library, SUVA, Avaloq, and Swiss Life.
English is my mother language. In Switzerland, I've worked primarily in German and English, and occasionally in French.
What I do now
I've been working at CSS Insurance in Lucerne as an external software engineering consultant since 2019. Last year, I joined the team automating Insurance Cost Pre-Approvals (Kostengutsprachen).
On the technical side, I integrate the automation into the rest of the insurance: generating PDFs for outbound mail, updating approval queues and notifications, processing electronic data exchange (SUMEX) for cost pre-approval requests, and reporting.
On the people side, I work closely with non-engineers to understand how Swiss Health Insurance (OKP) functions so that our automation rules behave the way they should.
Before that, I spent five years in the eBusiness API team, building domain-driven microservices for real-time customer data replication, admin UIs in Angular, and supporting the team's Kubernetes and CI/CD pipeline.
